The Certification Vibration Analyst Certification program offers four categories of certifications. An individual certified as a Category II Vibration Analyst should have the knowledge and capabilities of a Category I Vibration Analyst. A Category II Vibration Analyst should be able to define routine data collection activities including acquisition and analysis settings using basic signal analysis, collect extra test points when unusual conditions exist, perform single channel impact tests, interpret and evaluate test results in accordance with specifications and standards, diagnose common faults, and recommend basic corrective actions. The Category II Analyst shall be aware of and capable of recommending alternate condition monitoring technologies to verify issues raised as a result of routine condition monitoring.
