A candidate for the license to practice as a registered nurse must: Have completed either the curriculum and graduation requirements of a state-accredited program of registered nursing or a nursing education program in a foreign country that has been deemed by the board as substantially equivalent to a board-approved program. Be physically, mentally, and professionally capable to safely engage in the practice of nursing. Pass the board-administered examination. Not have been convicted of a crime or have been subject to disciplinary action that would have a direct bearing on the candidate's ability to practice competently. Pay all examination and registration fees.
