GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION See that all equipment at water treatment plants are operating properly and that the plant is producing an acceptable product. Prepares monthly operating reports and maintains operating records. Maintains distribution system and storage for water utilities. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or GED required as a minimum for any type system operation, however, the largest plants and distribution systems (Class IV) require a college Bachelors degree. EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS Contact the regulatory agency to determine eligibility for certification and examination. Examinations are given quarterly in Frankfort, during the annual operators conference, and on the last day of certification training sessions. Type of examination; multiple choice and true/false. Must score at least 70%. Examination fees of $30.00 per examination. Should you fail, you may register for a retake at the next scheduled session by paying a $30.00 retake fee. GENERAL INFORMATION for LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION There are no age requirements. You may be required to take a physical examination by the hiring authority. Work experience is required in all classifications. Certificates are good for two years and must be renewed by June 30 of even-numbered years, at a renewal fee of $20.00. Kentucky has reciprocity with several states. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (after licensure or certification) Twelve (12) hours per renewal for Classes I & II. Twenty-four (24) hours per renewal for Classes III & IV. The fee for renewal is $20.00 prior to June 30 and $55.00 after June 30. All state-sponsored continuing education classes re-quire preregistration and payment of a fee which varies per class - $10.00 average.
