Occupational Description
A Lobbyist works on behalf of a principal (firm, corporation, or organization) to promote or oppose the introduction or enactment of legislation before the Nebraska Legislature. This activity may include communication in person, by telephone, or via email with officials in the legislative or executive branches of the government in order to influence legislative action.
Licensure Requirements
A registration form needs to be filed and fee paid before engaging in lobbying.
Quarterly reports must be filed by every non-exempt Lobbyist and the principals represented by the Lobbyist.
A statement of activity must be filed by all Lobbyists within 45 days after the end of each legislative session.
Fees
Compensated Lobbyists: $200.00
Non-compensated Lobbyists: $15.00
Renewal
Registrations must be renewed annually to continue lobbying. Renewal forms must be received on or before December 31. Any Lobbyist applying for renewal after December 31 will be required to file a new registration form.
